Scottish Mountain Rescue
Head of Development
£38,000 – 40,000 pa – Home-based Scotland Central Belt
A unique opportunity to work with an exciting high-profile organisation offering you autonomy and opportunity to create something very special.
Scottish Mountain Rescue is the membership body representing the majority of Scotland’s mountain rescue teams, unpaid volunteers who work with the emergency services to rescue people in danger and difficulty in Scotland’s outdoors.
Maintaining rescue services relies on donations from trusts, companies and individuals. SMR is recruiting a Head of Development who will secure existing and new income streams for the future, including an appeal to raise funds for new communications equipment.
You will generate substantial income from traditional and new sources. You will have a thorough understanding of all forms of fundraising, including trusts, companies, major donors and social media. You will have an understanding of events organisation and community fundraising to enable you to advise and support local teams. You will also have experience of using and developing volunteers to support fundraising. Self-sufficient and confident you will be able to build productive relationships with existing and potential donors and with local teams. This is a hands-on role so you will have a track-record of raising substantial income through your own skills and ability.
