Save Lives

Gifts in wills fund around 100 rescues every year!

A gift in your Will costs nothing in your lifetime and means we can continue to save lives in the future. Our volunteers rely on your donations to run our vital service. Your support saves lives and returns people who are lost and injured in the mountains and remote places of Scotland to their families.

Gifts in wills help us to ensure that our volunteers can be properly kitted out for all the conditions they might face. So that they can stay safe whether they are heading out to reach a casualty in heavy snow and high winds in the middle of winter or searching for a missing person in thick mist at night. Your support helps pay for all the equipment we need to reach and rescue casualties as quickly and safely as possible.

Every length of rope helps mountain rescue teams reach out to people who need our help and bring them back to safety.

Every stretcher helps us carry injured hill walkers and mountaineers home to their family.

Every gift in every will helps our volunteer teams rescue people like you. Your gift ensures that when an emergency occurs in the mountains and wild places, our volunteers are ready to reach the patient in the fastest possible time. It’s not just our volunteers that save lives, it is people like you who leave us a gift in their will, so that we are ready to respond in the moment we are needed.

We receive gifts in wills of all sizes and from all sorts of people.  They are the one of the best ways to ensure the future of this vital service. Whatever you can afford in your will can save lives. And it is so easy: all you have to do is contact your solicitor and include us in you will.

How to include

a gift in your will

Including a gift in your will for Scottish Mountain Rescue or your chosen team is easy to do. We offer a free will-writing service and information pack for anyone interested in leaving a gift in their will for Scottish Mountain Rescue or your chosen team.

Scottish Mountain Rescue is a member of the National Free Wills Network. This means that we are able to offer our supporters the opportunity to have their will written free of charge by a local solicitor with Scottish Mountain Rescue paying a discounted rate for the writing of simple wills. There is limited availability, so please contact us as soon as possible to make sure that you don’t miss out. Once you have made provision for your loved one’s, we hope that you will also consider including a gift in your will for Scottish Mountain Rescue or our member teams, although there is of course no obligation to do so.

You can also consult your own solicitor who can advise on wording to ensure that your wishes are carried out exactly as you want them to be.
