The challenging course will take runners over Knocktim, ascending steeply through the Door of Cairnsmore, before heading north along the Knee of Cairnsmore to the summit of Cairnsmore of Fleet at the trig point. The route then turns southwest for a long descent to the finish, covering a total distance of 17.5km with 800m of ascent.
Registration opens at 9:30am at Muirfad Farm, with the race starting at 11am. Galloway Mountain Rescue volunteers will be stationed at key checkpoints, providing first aid cover, and will be serving hot soup and refreshments at the finish. The race is open to those over 18 with fell running experience and navigation skills, as winter conditions could make it especially challenging. All proceeds from the event will support Galloway MRT.
