In an emergency call 999 and ask for Police then Mountain Rescue

Covid19 Appeal

Covid19 Appeal

23rd March, 2020

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has said:

“If at all possible stay at home”
“essential travel only must be undertaken”
“life should not feel normal’
“Scotland is on the cusp of a rapid acceleration in coronavirus cases”

The advice is not ambiguous, now is the time to avoid unnecessary mountain activities and to consider our social responsibilities

We appreciate that the advice changed quickly across the weekend but SMR teams were called out 16 times across Saturday and Sunday, making it one of the busiest weekends for many years. That is 16 times when a relatively large group of people had to work in close proximity for an extended time.

We understand that being outdoors may be an escape from the unsettling reality that the world is going through right now, but please be considerate to ALL emergency services during this time and try and reduce the risk of needing help.

Our teams are 100% made up of volunteers, volunteers who have families, volunteers who have day jobs, volunteers who have the same concerns as you.

This will not be forever, but the sooner we comply with what the Government are asking the sooner all this can be over and we can enjoy the outdoors again.
