RRMT Training and Assessment Weekend
What will be covered? This weekend is a training and exam course; Saturday is spent in small groups working on skill stations and undertaking multiple scenarios to ensure you are fully prepared for your upcoming exam. The Sunday will see you undertake your RRMT exam which consists of a 40 question multiple choice paper (pass rate = 60%) and two practical assessments (one trauma and one medical). You should be ready to take your exam at the time of attendance; this course is not designed to teach you the skills required to pass your exam, rather to increase your confidence ready for the exam.
More information will be sent out in due course, however please read the information below to get you started.
Who will be delivering sessions? The course will be taught by experienced mountain rescue healthcare professionals, with a detailed knowledge of the RRMT syllabus and passion for training others. They are also involved in the examination process and therefore will give valuable insight to what is expected of you in the exam.
Online Learning: Prior to attending the weekend you should familiarise yourself with the RRMT syllabus.
The Casualty Care VLE is hosted by MREW and has lots of useful resources; the Revision Notes for Casualty Care pdf is a good concise summary of the theory required. It is recommended that you watch (as a minimum) the 3 primary survey videos in preparation for the course, these can be found under Medical/MREW Casualty Care Certificate/Clinical Skills Video Resources/Examination Skills.
Details on how to access the Casualty Care VLE can be found below:
We are very pleased and excited to be able to announce that SMR now have access to the virtual learning environment for the RRMT syllabus.
This is a huge step forward for medical training and casualty care exam preparation and brings us on a level playing field with our colleagues from MREW. The plan is for every team member to have a login and password if they wish to have this.
If you have not applied for this then please click the link to apply: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1CGagF8lRLjc7MoltlU6RCeRL-QecndyjCKAlqvrpCRU/viewform?edit_requested=true
Logbook: Candidates are required to submit a logbook of core skills prior to the RRMT exam. This is to demonstrate they have practiced these skills within the 12 months before the exam. This could be during training or live rescues, and should be verified by a health care professional or team medical officer. Attached in PDF and Excel format is a SMR version of this logbook.
If you do not provide us with your logbook we won’t be able to let you take the exam on the Sunday assessment.
PLEASE EMAIL YOUR COMPLETED LOGBOOK TO Ken: Ken.Crossley@scottishmountainrescue.org
Any questions then please get in touch with SMR Office: info@scottishmountainrescue.org
Assessment Criteria: Any part of the RRMT syllabus can be examined.
