Scottish Mountain Rescue (SMR) has released its Statistics Report of 2023.
In 2023 Scottish Mountain Rescue member teams attended 572 independent incidents (636 in 2022). The total number of separate team call outs was 870 (843 in 2022) which includes linked call outs on different days. SMR team members volunteered 32,762 hours (29,804 in 2022) to attend call outs alone.
During 2023, 677 people were assisted. 9 animals were rescued.
The Statistics report covers the year 2023. This report includes data gathered from 25 civilian member teams as well as three Police Scotland Mountain Rescue Teams (MRTs) and one RAF MRT.
