In an emergency call 999 and ask for Police then Mountain Rescue
Last November the Dundee University Rucksack Club decided to hold a fundraising ceilidh to raise funds for Scottish Mountain Rescue to support all the volunteers who give up their time to go to the aid of people in the mountains.
SMR is a charity close to the hearts of the Dundee University Rucksack Club as they are all avid hikers and climbers and know how harsh the conditions in the Scottish mountains can be.
The club hold ceilidhs to raise funds for Scottish Mountain Rescue twice a year in the form of holding a raffle and playing a whisky coin toss. At the last ceilidh they managed to raise an incredible amount of £429.10!
Damon Powell, Chair of SMR said, “On behalf of each and every one of our team members, we would like to thank the Dundee University Rucksack Club for their continued support. With your efforts to raise funds you are standing alongside our 850 volunteers, ready to respond in a moment’s notice, whatever the weather. You are just as much a part of our team as the volunteers who make up our 25 teams.”
Building on the success of their last ceilidh they already have the next one planned in for March.
